1953 Spark plugs with composite centre electrodes are first introduced.

1976 First mass production of Thermoelastic plug with composite centre electrode.

1980 Platinum centre electrodes and composite materials with noble metal alloys boost service life in excess of 60,000km.

1991 First surface/air gap spark plug, prevents carbon fouling, timing drift and misfire.

1995 Nickel Yttrium electrodes introduced into Bosch plugs.

2000 Bosch produces its seven billionth spark plug and introduces plugs for the first direct injection stratified charge gasoline engine.
