The jury of the Gallery for Innovation Motortec 2001, the international trade fair for the automobile component industry, held from 6 to 10 June in the Juan Carlos I Trade
Fair Park in Madrid, decided to award the 2001 prizes for innovation in the categories "Electrical and electronic components" and "Mechanical components" for the Diesel
Duraterm Chromium spark plugs and the new joint-free windscreen wipers with extraflat profile, marketed by Robert Bosch España, S.A.
With the award of these prizes, which were presented on 6 June within the framework of the official opening of the exhibition, the trade fair would like to reward the research
and development carried out by Bosch on new automobile accessory products.

Automechanika Innovation Prize 2002
With the new joint-free "Aerotwin" wiper, Robert Bosch GmbH won first place in the category of "Car accessories". The "Automechanika" jury emphasised that the
"Aerotwin“ optimises wiping quality, has a longer service life and is considerably quieter than traditional windscreen wipers.

Bosch also won another first place, together with DaimlerChrysler, in the category of "Car components" for the joint development of the electrohydraulic brake SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control) - the first "brake by wire“ system in the world.

The jury consisted of specialist journalists, association representatives and customer service experts. With the Automechanika Innovation Prize 2002, the Frankfurt trade fair is presenting an award for the fourth time for products from the supplier industry and workshop market according to criteria of user benefit, innovation and significance for the international automobile industry.

Pace Award 2002

Bosch has been awarded the so-called Pace award for the development of the Aerotwin windscreen wiper. The US specialist magazine Automotive News awards
the prize together with the management consulting firm Cap Gemini Ernst & Young once a year for innovative products in the automobile supplier industry.

The Bosch Aerotwin won the award in the category of European Product Innovation. The high-level, independent jury consisted of former top managers in the automobile
industry and university professors. Stating its reasons, the jury expressly praises the extraordinary structure of the wiper blade, which, thanks to the elimination of the joint
components, almost halves the height in comparison with the usual wiper blades. Two external spring rails adapt the wiper rubber, provided with a spoiler over the entire
length, optimally to the curve of the windscreen. This ensures consistently good wiping results at all speeds. The low height also significantly reduces wind noise.
Since its presentation in 1999, the new wiper has met with a positive reception: In the meantime, vehicles made by Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi, Renault, Ford, Skoda and Seat have been fitted with the new wiper blade.

The Pace Award has been presented by Automotive News and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young since 1994. This year, the applications were subjected to a thorough
audit by the jury, until the eight winners were decided.
