No one understands diesel technology better than Bosch. Since introducing the first Diesel Injection System in 1922, we have been leading the way in the development of diesel systems and components and our name has been behind a long series of innovations.
A significant part of Diesel's sustained success is due to the modern diesel fuel injection systems made by Bosch. Investment and research has enabled Bosch to develop new technology for diesel engines allowing them to be more economical, cleaner and quieter without sacrificing power. High injection pressure has proved to be the crucial factor, and Bosch has introduced three new injections systems to meet a wide and growing demand - the solenoid valve-controlled Radial Piston Distribution Pump, the high-pressure Common Rail System and the Unit Injector. All are controlled by the latest generation of Bosch EDC Electronic Diesel Control. They require high pressures of up to 2,000 bar, coupled with extremely precise fuel metering and injection sequences.
Engines with a high-pressure distributor pump and a common rail or unit injector system (UIS) have a high specific performance, low engine noise and excellent torque. This makes driving more pleasurable while at the same time considerably reducing fuel consumption.
Control units, nozzles, glow plugs and filters have all benefited from our experience to create a diesel engine that's more efficient, powerful and economical than ever before.
We plan to remain the driving force behind diesel technology, for both the car and truck market.
Already our distributor pumps and common rail systems have pushed diesel dynamics to new levels, while intelligent nozzle design has achieved supreme efficiency and economy.
