Course Contents - Electrical 

EL-A (2.5 Days)

Advanced Auto Electrical (Theory and Practical work)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics

  • Stater and alternator construction and system overview.
  • Testing, troubleshooting and repair of basic starting systmens and charging systems.
  • Identification, explanation and application of circuit wiring diagrams.

EL-B (2.5 Day)

Basic Auto Electrical (Theory and Practical work)

Participants: Workshop assistants / First Year Apprentices

  • Battery testing, refilling and fitting, headlight adjustment, ignition timing check, fan belt adjustment.
  • Basic starting and charging system check.
  • Electrical measurement values and units, circuits, conductors and connectors, basic multimeter use.
  • Use of Bosch Test and Diagnostic equipment. 


EL-1 (3 Days)

12 Volt Starting and Charging Systems (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics

  • Starter and alternator construction and systems.
  • Testing and repairing of basic 12 (EF, DM and DW) starters and 12V (N, K, KC and NC) alternators.
  • Diagnosing and fault finding on starting and charging circuits.
  • Use of Electronic Service Information, Service instruction system and Bosch Test and Diagnostic equipment.


EL-2 (3 Days)

24 Volt Starting and Chargin Systems (Predominantly practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics with experience

  • Repairing and testing of 24V (JD, JF. KB and KE) starters and 24V (NC, N3, T1, and U2) alternators.
  • Diagnosing and faultfinding on starting and charging circuit.
  • Over-Voltage protection and battery changeover systems.
  • Multiple layout fuse boxes, teminal definitions and current paths.
  • Use of Electronic Service Information, Service instruction system and Bosch Test and Diagnostic equipment.


EL-3 (2 Days)

Comfort Systems (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics with experience

  • Repair and testing of automotive heating and air conditioning systems, climate controls, battery management systems, central locking, sunroof control, park aids / park pilots, key controlled immobilisers and instrumentation.
  • Use of Electronic Service Information, Service instruction system and Bosch Test and Diagnostic equipment.

EL-4 (2 Days)

Safety Systems (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics with experience

  • Repair and testing of wiping systems, airbag systems, seat belt restraints and belt tighteners, gas-discharge lighting, adaptive cruise control, speed limitation, telematics and overview of basic CAN systems.
  • Use of Electronic Service Information, Service instruction system and Bosch Test and Diagnostic equipment.


VES (3 Days)

On Vehicle Electrical Systems (Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Motor Mechanics with experience.

  • Overview of vehicle's main circuits.
  • Understanding and tracing of wiring diagrams with terminal definitions and current paths.
  • Checking and fault finding on Starting and Charging systems, Transponder ignition systems, wiping, lighting and other vehicle electrics.
  • Use of Electronic Service Information, Service instruction system and Bosch Test and Diagnostic equipment.

CAN (3 Days)

Controller Area Networks (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Motor Mechanics with experience

  • Operation and diagnosis of CAN BUS networks (controller area network) and data transmission.
  • Trouble shooting with oscilloscopes.
  • Use of Electronic Service Information, Service instruction system and Bosch Tesh and Diagnostic equipment.
