Course Contents - Engine Management & Ignition Systems 

JET-K (4 Days)

K,KE Jetronic Fuel Injection Systems (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics

  • Mechanical K & KE constant injection systems installed on Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, VW, etc.
  • Construction and working procedure.
  • Structure and working procedure of individual components.
  • Testing of individual components.
  • Systems testing and fault diagnosis on the vehicle.
  • Use of ESI and SIS.


JET-1 (3 Days)

L, LE, LH, Motronic Fuel Injection Systems (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics

  • L, LE, LH and Motronic electronic fuel injection/engine management systems installed on Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, VW, etc.
  • Construction and working procedure.
  • Structure and working procedure of individual components.
  • Testing of individual components.
  • Systems testing and fault diagnosis on the vehicle.
  • Overview of exhaust gas recirculation and Lambda control.
  • Use of Electronic Service Information and Service instruction system.


  JET-2 (3 Days)

Advanced Engine Management Systems (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Mechanics / Auto Electrician with experience

  • Motronic type Engine Management systems overview, with Exhaust emission control.
  • Motronic MP9.0 engine management systems installed on Citi Golf, Polo Playa, Polo Classic, Golf and Jetta 111
  • Component function and testing including Knock sensor, Digital idle speed control, Ignition timing adjustment, Throttle valve basic setting adjustments and CO adjustments. Construction and overview of MP9.0 system.
  • Motronic M, ME engine management systems installed on BMW, Mercedes and Volove.
  • Component function and testing including Knock sensors, E-gas (drive-by-wire), tempomat cruise control, road surface sensors, oil and water sensors, tank ventilation, exhaust gas recirculation, secondary air injection, Lambda sensors and catalytic convertors. Construction  and overview of M, ME system.
  • In-depth look at exhaust emission control devices, in line with South African legislation intro in 2006.
  • Pin allocations and ECU interrogation software process using Bosch Electronic Service Information and Service instruction system.


JET-3 (3 Days)

Non-Bosch Engine Management Systems (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics with experience

  • Overview of Japanese type injection and ignition systems, including TCCS, ECCS, EGI. PGM-F from Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Honda.
  • Circuit diagrams, component function and fault finding.
  • Systems overview of European systems, Digifant II, Fenix 5, Marelli IAW and VDO, for VW, Renault, Fiat, Alfa-Romeo, Lancia, BMW and Audi. Component function and fault codes with OBD II.


JET-6 (3 Days)

Direct Petrol Injection (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Mechanics / Auto Electricians with engine management experience

  • MED, GDI, FSI type Motronic Direct Petrol Injection. The Petrol engine management system of the future.
  • Construction and working procedure.
  • Structure and working procedure of individual components.
  • Systems testing and fault diagnosis on the vehicle.
  • Use of electronic service information and service instruction system.

IGN (3 Days)

Ignition Systems (Bosch) (Theory and Practical)

Participants: Auto Electricians / Mechanics with experience

  • Overview of Electronic ignition systems, inducive, hasll & CDI with current limitation, knock, boost & octane sensors.
  • Diagnosing with oscilloscope, multimeter and motor tester.
  • Scope pattern and emission analyses.
