Football stadiums for 2010 - Built strong with Power Tools from Bosch.
The buoyant South African construction sector is having a positive effect on Bosch business: the construction and improvement of football stadiums in preparation for the World Cup, which will be staged in South Africa in 2010 is causing increasing demand for power tools.
The same applies to state-supported housing projects and the construction of a high-speed rail network for the Johannesburg metropolitan area.
The Power Tool Division of Bosch is continuing on its growth course. Currency-adjusted figures show that the turnover with power tools, accessories and garden tools grew to 2.8 billion euros. We therefore achieved a growth rate of around 6 percent and far exceeded the growth rates on the world market for the third year in succession. Bosch has actually attained growth rates in double figures with professional power tools on the world market for three years in succession.
Growth through innovation
The main reasons for the worldwide success of Bosch in 2006 included, in particular, cordless tools featuring lithium-ion technology. We have more experience in this field than any other manufacturer: the Power Tool Division was the first supplier to make use of the advantages of lithium-ion technology for power tools and it now has the widest range of products – from precision tools such as the Dremel Stylus and professionally used rotary hammers through to the "Rotak Ll", the world's first lithium-ion lawnmower. Ixo, our cordless screwdriver, remained the world's best-selling power tool for the third year in succession. Six million units have now been produced since 2003.
